Inspired by Nature

A moment captured in time can help us appreciate what we have in our lives and also inspire us for future possibilities. If you take a moment now and reflect on your life, what would YOU like to change? Would you like to move into a new career, start a new business, create a new music album, enter an art competition, or change yourself? Commitment is the first start to the change process, so make a decision to CHANGE now! As a start, decide where you would love to be in the future and what you would like to be doing. Then, check on the barriers that may be holding you back. We all have patterns in our lives and having awareness about this is crucial. Do you sabotage yourself in a new relationship, does it take a while for people to get to know you, do you have a “mask” that you sometimes take off and show people who you really are and are you running away from anything? You may need to eliminate past behaviours and patterns to uncover who you are. After this initial change takes place, you can progress in your life with some exciting goals that focus in any area, whether it is in your career, a business, a creative possibility, or for yourself. Also, as you develop actions in line with your goals, monitor your progress, be in tune with your insights and overall, acknowledge your successes daily as success breeds success

Putting it all into practice is about strengthening your approach with indestructible habits through:

  • Action plans – what are you going to do today?
  • Keeping a check on Urgent vs. Important – The four quadrants of operation?
  • Keeping it all in balance
  • Managing to do lists – How to keep them small and fulfilling
  • Goal measurement
  • Your mental approach i.e. affirmations, visualisation, thought for the day
  • Resources to draw on and reminders

This will result in an action plan that will accelerate you to new levels of success and the development of a success formula. Remember clarity is power and know why this approach is a must, not a should! Take massive action and review, look at model strategies of peak performers. Through this you will manage time by outcomes and you will move to outstanding success.

Reality TV train left the station and “You’re left with Your Life!”

What happens when your Reality TV train leaves the station? You’re left alone with your life! Reality TV can be a great escape mechanism, however, do you get caught up in it? After the TV show, you’re left with your feelings, your reactions and knowing what your life is really about. And, do you allow time to process these feelings, as unresolved issues grow into habits. Then when a trigger occurs, “BOOM”, everything comes out, just like the tip of the iceberg! You have the chance to get off the Reality TV express train at the station RIGHT NOW and design the life you would love, whether it’s a new career, in music, art or, a new business.

So you’ve left the train – congratulations! Now is a great time to see where you’re at in your life! The first step to start you on a journey to discover yourself and who you are meant to become is to look at your life purpose. It is important to learn how to know yourself and begin answering the big questions of life. It is important to learn what inspires you, why you are here and what you are supposed to experience, learn and get out of this lifetime. So, take out a few sheets of loose paper, or a journal and a pen and find a quiet place where you will not be interrupted. Turn off your mobile phone, your computer. Write the answers to each question down from the list below. Write the first thing that pops into your head. Write without editing. Use point form. It’s important to write out your answers rather than just thinking about them. Write quickly and be honest. Nobody will read it. It’s important to write without editing:

  • What makes you smile? (Activities, people, vents, hobbies, projects etc.)
  • What were your favourite things to do in the past? What about now?
  • What activities make you lose track of time?
  • What makes you feel great about yourself?
  • Write down all of your major goals in your life that you feel you want to achieve
  • Who inspires you most? (Any one you know or do not know. Family, friends, authors, artists, leaders, etc.). Which qualities inspire you, in each person?
  • What are you naturally good at? (skills, abilities, gifts etc.)
  • What do people typically ask you for help in?
  • If you had to teach something, what would you teach?

Keep your answers in a notebook that’s both easy to access and update wherever you happen to be: it will be a source of sustaining you and by which you can continue to measure your growth through life. Do the things that you have discovered in this exercise and that you would really like to do! Pick up those watercolours. Write a short story or a blog. Start a new business. Plan a trip (when you can). Have a zoom dinner with a family member. Start cracking jokes. Open up. Tell the truth. Whatever it is that you have decided you want to be, do or have, start being and doing now. Notice the changes that are taking place and reward your successes on the way.

If you spend time and energy on aligning who you are, with what you do, you will be well on your way to true freedom. The path to self-discovery never really ends but is the producer of meaning and purpose: therefore the persistent effort and long duration of the journey is actually welcomed, rather than disdained.

Enjoy the journey of discovery to your true self!

The Untold Story

Stories can unfold in many different ways throughout our career, in art, music or business. The important thing to realise however is whether your story is untold yet? Reflecting on our life adventures leads to a life filled with purpose that can also be shared with others to create change in meaningful ways. Quick fixes and temporary motivation don’t always ensure long term satisfaction and success on your own terms: quite often it can be someone else’s agenda. So, allowing yourself more time away from distractions will give you an approach for your life that serves you every day?

In the many years I have been working with people to assist them in becoming successful, certain themes came together to create a great result. Overall, this produced a success formula for each client, with goals, actions, insights and achievements as well as a combination of tools and support resources. In essence, this developed into a Life Story for each client and it covered many disciplines, including artists, for musicians, new businesses and in careers.

With the Life Story concept, I have checked back with clients after many years to see the sustainable outcomes that are created with new directions in their lives. So, would you like the opportunity to create your own Life Story now? Find a journal or a place where you could record aspects for your life each day and see what evolves. Ensure you have time to do this each day and then reflect back on your Life Story at the start of the day. Overall, this will develop into your own Life Story using the tips below:

  • Be grateful every day
  • Keep your approach simple
  • Take note of the messages you receive daily
  • Take the next step only
  • Clarify your needs an goals
  • Be present and in the flow
  • Acknowledge success every day
